What is it?
The International is an annual tournament, sponsored and organized by Valve Entertainment where teams from all over the world compete against each other in Dota 2 for a chance to win the collective prize pool. This is the biggest Dota 2 tournament in the world that attracts many of the top-tier eSports teams in the world, and also has the biggest prize pool in the industry. Open Qualifiers happened on June 21st through June 24th where any team could compete for the last two slots in the Regional Qualifiers.

Why should you care?
The International is not only the biggest tournament in the history of eSports, but right now, the current prize pool is over $19 million USD, breaking The International’s Prize pool record of $18,429,613 from last year. Also, many top teams in the eSports industry will be competing as well: Team Liquid, Fnatic, and OG are some of the teams that will be competing during The International. What is Dota 2?
Dota 2 is a free-to-play MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) game, released in 2013 by Valve Corporation. In this game, you compete in matches between two five-player teams with their own base on each side of their map. Each player can use one out of 111 “heroes” (playable characters), with different abilities and techniques they can use in battle, and they can earn experience, items and gold while fighting players on the opposing team. The team who destroys the opposing team's Ancient building (which is located in their enemy’s base), wins. Dota 2 is one of the most popular games played on Steam and in the eSports world, garnering huge audiences and many tournaments.

If you are planning on being in Seattle for The International, ASUS will be handing out flyers with a Best Buy exclusive laptop deal for those who attend the event and another deal on the PG248Q monitors, just like the ones the players will be using during the tournament. So definitely come find us around Ti6 to grab this offer, and just say hey.
